General instructions on how to apply for NEAR data

To apply for access to the databases, you need to fill in the application form at the NEAR platform and submit online (Please take note that you need to register before you are able to submit the data request application), in which we ask for:

• Contact information for the applicant, and information regarding the co-applicants.
• Short abstract.
• List of variables in cohorts that are needed for your project.
• Attachment: CV.

The abstract should include a short background, aim and research questions, and data management (e.g. harmonization of variables or meta-analyses). You also need to read and agree on the Policies for using NEAR data (please note that this document is working in progress).

At NEAR platform you could find information of variables for most of the studies included in NEAR.

Your application will be reviewed by the NEAR team, which will then send requests to corresponding NEAR PIs. After their approval, the NEAR team will assist you with your project. All data will be handled in accordance with the Implementation of the GDPR regulation at Karolinska Institutet.

PLEASE NOTE: Everytime you plan to use NEAR data for a grant/project application you need to have a written permission from the local PIs of the applicable databases. If applying for a grant aiming to use NEAR data, clearly state that no permission has yet been acquired.
